No matter how much you like New York in June, you’re probably not too crazy about it in February. But that cold, gray month in the middle of winter has a few bright spots: Bob Marley’s birthday (Feb. 6), National Drink Wine Day (Feb. 18), and, of course, Superbowl Sunday on Feb. 2. If you’re not able to be at Hard Rock Stadium to watch the action live, the big game provides the perfect excuse to stay home at The Kent and throw a party in the comfort of your own condo.
Get the Party Started
Invite your guests up to your eat-in kitchen for a pre-game hangout. Whether you've selected the Ivory or Onyx countertop finishes, everyone will be wowed by this elegant space — and just how many people it can accommodate. Be sure your Miele fridge is stocked with plenty of chilled beers, and put out a selection of Super Bowl-themed snacks on those gleaming countertops: Think football-shaped dark rye grilled cheese sandwiches, iced cookies in the shape of football jerseys, a watermelon football helmet, and deviled eggs dressed to resemble ... you guessed it, footballs. By now, everyone should be in the mood for the game.
Game On
Time to head to The Kent's Sound Lounge. Here, you and your friends can crash back on comfy sofas and watch the game on one of the built-in, oversized video screens. Side tables provide spaces for more buckets of beer (or, if you're being particularly flash, fizz), while the wall of speakers will deliver every cheer from the crowd and every crash of helmet on helmet. It'll be just like being in the arena — only a lot more comfortable.
The Halftime Show
Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are sharing the honors at this year's Super Bowl halftime show, which means you're going to want to get out of your seat and dance. Fortunately, the Sound Lounge easily transforms into a dance floor, meaning you and your guests can groove to “Hips Don't Lie” and “On the Floor” before taking your positions for the rest of the game.
The Party Continues
When the game is over, your Super Bowl party at the Kent can keep on kicking. After chilling in The Garden Salon, shooting a few frames on the billiards table, and serving up dinner in the catering kitchen, head back to the Sound Lounge for what could be the evening’s real main event. The lounge serves as a particularly awesome gaming room: Hook up Madden NFL 20 to the system, and have your own gridiron battle. It's time to find out who's the best virtual player in these Upper East Side residences.
