New York City is undoubtedly one of the fashion capitals of the world. There are hundreds of high-end boutiques and department stores throughout the city—and a particularly impressive concentration in the Upper East Side. The neighborhood is a haven for elegant shopping. And fortunate residents of The Kent condominium will find themselves flush with premium local options. Here are five of our favorites:
Cartier | 828 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10021
Cartier began in France over 170 years ago, and it’s still one of the most well-known luxury brands on the planet. If you’re in the market for some show-stopping jewelry, this is the place. A Cartier watch is an heirloom that will be handed down for generations; their engagement rings are world-class; and their handbags are beautiful. It’s Cartier; everything in the store is stunning.
Gucci | 840 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10021
There are not many (if any) fashion houses more iconic than Gucci. The brand was founded in Italy in 1921, and like Cartier, it seems to grow larger and more prestigious each year. The Gucci boutique in the Upper East Side offers pretty much everything Gucci makes. Looking for a new tuxedo? They have it. Looking for a dress, or a jacket, or a pair of sneakers, or heels, or cufflinks? They have it. The modern space is filled with legendary designs; walking the floor is like strolling through a modern fashion museum.
Vince | 980 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10075
The Vince boutique on the Upper East Side is the brand’s beautiful new flagship store. The modern space is filled with sophisticated, yet casual women’s clothing. Everything from t-shirts, to camis, culottes, tunics, cardigans, jumpers, sweaters, chinos, skirts, and dresses is available here. There’s a refinement to all of the clothing at Vince; it’s immediately evident that the quality is remarkably high.
Bergdorf Goodman | 754 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10019
The Bergdorf Goodman department store on 5th Avenue first opened its doors way back in 1928. Now, nearly a century later, it’s pretty much sacred ground for any NYC fashionista. They carry pieces from hundreds of top designers, including Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Bulgari, CHANEL, Dior, Elie Tahari, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, and Yves Saint Laurent. They have clothing for all occasions and accessories galore.
Bloomingdale’s | 1000 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10022
In the world of luxury department stores, Bloomingdale’s is queen. They have everything from everyone. That sounds hyperbolic, but it really isn't. There’s far too much to list, but essentially, whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. They feature work from thousands of designers, in a vast array of styles. If you’re ultramodern, you’ll find a ton of stuff here. If you’re more traditional, you’ll find tons of stuff here. If your tastes are half avant-garde and half bohemian, you’ll find tons of stuff here.
